Quickbooks online set-up

Whether you are a new business just getting started, or an established one with changing needs, we can assist you in setting up your QuickBooks Online account. This service also includes the creation of a customized Chart of Accounts and the connection of your bank and/or credit cards to QuickBooks Online. 

Project management system integration

Do you use a project management system like Ivy, MyDoma, or DesignerLogic? We have experience in mapping or integrating QuickBooks Online to these platforms. We can help you understand how to best use both programs to truly understand your numbers and make smart decisions about your business.

Retroactive bookkeeping

Haven’t reconciled any of your accounts all year? Or ever? It is okay! We can go back and clean up your accounting so that you can have a fresh start and move forward with best practices.


All of our monthly bookkeeping packages include monthly reconciliation of all bank/credit card accounts, a dedicated account specialist, and the preparation of monthly financial reports.

Additional services may be added to your monthly package.

Monthly packages for interior designers that use a project management system begin at $525 per month.

Monthly packages for small businesses begin at $350 per month.


We do offer a quarterly bookkeeping package, however this package is only available to those clients who file their sales and use tax quarterly or annually. Quarterly bookkeeping packages include quarterly reconciliation of all bank/credit card accounts, a dedicated account specialist, and the preparation of quarterly financial reports.

Quarterly packages begin at $750 per quarter.


These services can be added to a monthly bookkeeping package.

Accounts Payable

$85 per month - Business by the Book offers bill pay services using your bank’s built-in bill pay system or QuickBooks account. Business by the Book cannot pay your vendors using your credit card or via ACH payment.


$130 per month - Do you need assistance with invoicing your clients? Business by the Book can help you manage your invoicing through your QuickBooks account. We currently do not assist with any invoicing through any other project management systems.


$100 per filing - Sales and Use tax can be a very tricky and complicated part of owning a business. Let us help you! We will manage, file, and pay your sales and use tax on you behalf.

* We currently do not file or pay sales tax for the following states: Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, or Louisiana.

1099 Subcontractor filing

Rates vary - In January, Business by the Book will file and send 1099s to all of your subcontractors. Throughout the year, we help you remember to collect W9s from your subcontractors.


Starts at $125 per month - Payroll services vary significantly based on the types of employees (hourly or salary) and the number of employees. Business by the Book can help you manage your payroll and will file and pay your payroll taxes. There is a $200 payroll set-up fee associated with this service.
