The Ideal Candidate:
You are someone who doesn't just "do" books—you prepare and review them for accuracy and optimization. You understand that creative businesses have unique workflows, and you aren't afraid of the heavy lifting required to keep them streamlined.
Primary Responsibilities:
Business by the Book provides full-charge bookkeeping services for clients across the country.
Will code client transactions and reconcile client accounts in QuickBooks Online
Will facilitate the preparation and processing of client payrolls, W-2s, and 1099s through Gusto and Tax1099
Will prepare and process sales tax reports
Will prepare financial reports and submit for internal review by a BBTB Client Controller
Develop a strong, productive, professional, and trusted advisor relationship with assigned clients
Partner with clients by understanding their business and industry and providing ongoing advice, insights, and support
Technical Requirements:
Design-Specific Software: High proficiency in Houzz Pro, DesignFiles, and Double is highly preferred.
General Accounting: Expert-level mastery of QuickBooks Online
Industry Knowledge: Experience managing inventory, procurement, and multi-state sales tax for designers.
Interpersonal/Client Development Skills
Exhibits time management and organization skills
Develops an entrepreneurial approach to client service and good working relationships with client personnel
Builds new and existing client relationships and demonstrates basic knowledge of clients’ businesses
Develops means of communication to clients and persons responsible for maintaining relationships with clients
Accepts volunteer positions in community organizations
Understands firm ethics and demonstrates them consistently
Desired Skills
Minimum of an Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related program
Prior experience (2 years) in private/public accounting
Strong technology skills using Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, Chat, etc.)
Ability to multitask and to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred
Team player with a positive - ‘can do’ approach
The "Busy Season" Reality
Our clients' success depends on a clean year-end. To ensure we provide elite service, we have a strictly defined busy season from December through February. If you’re looking for a quiet winter, this isn’t the role for you. We are looking for team members who aren't afraid of hard work and are ready to lock in for the next three months to ensure our clients start their year on a perfect footing.

Compensation
Compensation is composed of base pay and quarterly bonus opportunities.
